HiStruct: Automated design of steel structures
HiStruct is customizable web based application that is designed to simplify the automated design of steel structures. Design automation of your product that allows to simplify its configuration, analysis, design, optimization and outputs generation such as overview drawings, bill of material, assembly lists, sales quotations. HiStruct carries out fully automated structural design of your product, including analytical model generation, FEM analysis, (Euro)Code Design/Check and optimization of the structural members or even its shape. Such automation comes most handy when dealing with customizable products, whose structural integrity needs to be analysed and checked such as prefabricated steel buildings, tents, glasshouses, storage systems, cranes, conveyors, various technology elements etc. These structures are well defined but variable/changing geometries so mostly each fabricated product may have different dimensions.

How does the HiStruct work?
Each product introduced in HiStruct is translated into product template. Such template describes the product geometry and its behavior when geometry changes, imposed loads, structural schema and members properties, structure behavior in particular design situation, non bearing elements. The translation of the product into product template is important part and needs to be done carefully. Product template corresponds to the product in its real life, so the template contains logical parts as components, that are reused in the product, components have unlimited levels of immersion. Product template and its components also contain many more than just structural information, these can carry the information about surface treatment, cost, other physical properties to resolve engineering disciplines as ventilation, heating etc. As well as the template prepare reflects manufacturing possibilities of the producer.
What products can be designed by HiStruct?
HiStruct comes most handy on products that have customizable geometries such as componential structures whose structural integrity needs to analysed by Finite Element Method and its bearing system checked according to national or company codes (Eurocode, IBC..) The most typical product groups are prefabricated steel buildings, tents, glasshouses, storage systems, hyper storage structures, cranes, conveyors, various technology elements etc. These structures are mostly fabricated in different sizes/shapes, customized for nearly each of its users, but typically having well defined geometry that is repeated with small modifications.
How does your product get into HiStruct?
We get it there for you. We analyse your products and prepare set of product templates for each of your products with its modifications or versions. Product template is designed using the components from which the product is fabricated, carrying all information that is usually used in manual design process. Product template may contain high level of detail e.g. structural or nonstructural elements, coupling, technology… Product templates are always prepared by us as a part of HiStruct customisation, so the templates and entire HiStruct fully corresponds to your needs. Our engineer comes to your place and with the information provided by you creates the product templates to your satisfactions.
Each customised HiStruct solution runs on dedicated secured server and only the users that you specify can access it.
Can HiStruct create reports, drawings or quotes?
HiStruct may contain very high level of detail this includes e.g. model of steel building to its very bolt. HiStruct product template may be used to generate various itemized lists/reports of the product the way the product is created (including components, project phases, different layers of items).

Powerful tool for your business
Configuration of the product can be done by people with different level of knowledge and different viewpoints. Your customer may see the product differently than your sale representative and perhaps your engineer. Therefore HiStruct can be easily customized and advanced customization features can be hidden based on user account type.
Powerful CAD Engine
To be able to work with full geometry of the product requires a high quality model. HiStruct is based on the FemCAD engine that is used for modelling of product templates. The level of detail of product template can be very high and can contain all individual components that are needed for product completion such us connectors, fittings and accessories.
Fast Analysis behind
Product composition may require internal Finite Element Analysis that may influence certain geometrical properties of the product. HiStruct may be enhanced by FEA program to contain full FEM analysis capabilities including Linear (with buckling), nonlinear, seismic, dynamic and other types of analysis.
Accurate price calculation
Every customized product needs to be priced accurately reflecting many factors. HiStruct takes into account full geometrical information of your product, clearly structured into individual components. Components contain also information about the materials used, surface treatment, connections, manufacture, assembly, transport and installation requirements/ demands that can be easily expressed by price.
HiStruct uses FemCAD for creation and running of product and component templates. FemCAD uses variation based modelling that include all features of standard 3D CAD modeler and many unique modelling possibilities Such as Distributions, Components, Constraints to ensure that the modeled product and its components are fully customizable.
Code compliance checks
Certain product types may require compliance checks, e.g. components of structures may need to be checked if the bearing capacity allows loading that is required by customer. Such checks are often country dependent. HiStruct templates may be equipped with such national or company internal checks.
Easy quote generation
Quote is the front face of the producer. HiStruct uses quote templates customized for customer, where the graphical rules correspond with the company graphical identity. Quote can be prepared in different language and currency setup. Sales people will appreciate the possibility to add discount rates with clear rules referencing concrete product configuration.
Automated overview drawings
For better illustration a quote can contain also the drawings of the componentialy configured product. Such drawings can become part of the quote and can be generated automatically by HiStruct. Having the full model of the product, HiStruct can generate scaled drawings with side views, top view, sections, axonometry or perspective drawings.
Evaluation and optimization of whole product, its components and materials plays nowadays important role, more often even necessary condition in customized product design. Properly and carefully assessed optimization helps the optimal use of appropriate product components and its materials.
