HiStruct Roofs offers several roof modeling methods depending on the source data available and the roof complexity. Choose the workflow that best fits your project.
Template-Based Modeling
Need to model a simple standard roof? Choose from a library of predefined roof templates, adjust dimensions and materials, and your model is ready within minutes. This method is ideal for standard roof types and projects where only basic dimensions are available.
Modeling from an Outline or by Roof Planes
Do you have a hand sketch or a vector drawing? HiStruct allows you to create a 3D roof model from an outline or model the roof plane by plane. Vector drawings can be easily imported (for example in DXF format) and used as a reference layer for modeling. This approach is ideal for more complex roof types and enables more precise and efficient 3D modeling.
Importing a 3D Survey Model
Do you have a model created from satellite or aerial survey data? Simply import it into HiStruct Roofs and the system will automatically generate a 3D roof model. HiStruct supports formats such as .obj files or converted 3D PDFs. The result is an accurate model without manual input, significantly reducing modeling time and improving design precision.
2. Choose the Roof Covering
Once the roof geometry is complete, the next step is to define the roof composition and choose the roof covering. HiStruct Roofs automatically generates a base solution that can be further customized as needed.

HiStruct Roofs supports different roof covering types and roof compositions. You can edit the entire roof system or adjust individual roof sections separately.
Roof Covering Layout
The system automatically generates the roof covering layout with a focus on efficient material usage. Layout parameters for each roof plane can then be adjusted individually — including laying direction, angle, and other details.
Layout Plans and Bills of Materials
HiStruct automatically generates layout plans and bills of materials for individual roof planes. Any modifications made in the model are instantly reflected in all outputs, which can also be edited further if needed.
3. Customize Gutters and Flashings
HiStruct Roofs automatically generates flashings and the gutter system based on the roof geometry, providing an accurate and optimized solution.
Automatic Design
The system analyzes roof shapes, edges, and relationships between roof planes to automatically determine suitable flashing types and the base gutter system.
Flashing Adjustments
Flashing types, materials, and colors can be easily customized according to project requirements. Changes can be applied to entire groups of elements or adjusted individually for specific roof sections.
Gutter System Adjustments
HiStruct Roofs automatically determines downspout placement and gutter slope. Individual gutter system elements can then be easily modified as needed.
4. Add Windows
The final step toward a complete 3D roof model is adding openings such as roof windows, skylights, and other elements. HiStruct Roofs allows you to insert and edit them directly in the 3D model, so all changes are immediately visible in real context.
